The mission of the Department of Earth & Climate sciences is to prepare students for careers and graduate school by providing a strong foundation in Earth sciences, critical thinking, and the scientific method. The program emphasizes an understanding of physical processes active in the Earth and building both qualitative and quantitative tools. Students learn job-based skills including collaboration and effective communication through scientific writing, and oral and visual presentations. The department emphasizes student-led research, with students going on to careers in geology, water resources, and climate and environmental science.
